Well, here we go… my FIRST official Messy Mom post and today, you won’t believe it, I’m feeling like a million bucks! I’m on point, on “fleek,” and just a smidge proud! Huge shoutout to God for that—oh, and I treated myself to some serious self-care this morning by slapping on a full face of makeup (while my hair remains in a cute little ponytail, because, you know, long hair struggles)! My kiddo managed to get up on the third “Good Morning,” which should totally be documented in the history books. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve considered dumping ice-cold water on her to speed things up—not gonna lie, some mornings she moves like molasses in winter! But guess what? This week, she’s been a little turbocharged! I’m here for all of it!

Normally, I don’t always feel this energetic—I’m usually more like a sloth on a Sunday! But honestly, I owe it all to God! I even stumbled upon a new Spotify playlist: Kel’s Grace Lit Playlist. It’s packed with fire Christian rap that gets you so hyped you might even start running laps! Growing up in the 80s and 90s, my usual routine involved blasting rock and rap music for my daily hype session, and I didn’t even need my liquid motivational coffee today—just that fiery playlist! Also, I’ve been diving into daily devotionals, meditating, and, you guessed it, praying about how I’d like to see my chaotic day unfold—and surprise, surprise, it’s actually helping! My favorite devotionals are by Joyce Meyer. I just adore her words and her superwoman strength—seriously, what’s her secret? I’m on a mission to become a Proverbs woman, which is basically a fancy way of saying I’m adding books to my Kindle that promise to help me trade in the mess for some glory. As I get older, I’m aiming to be a little less of a hot mess, a tad more peaceful, and maybe, just maybe, slightly less likely to trip over my own feet!

I still struggle, though! There are days I come home feeling like a stressed-out juggler at a circus with dishes piled up in the sink like it’s Mount Dishmore, 4 loads of laundry lounging on my bed like they’re on a permanent vacation, and dinner waiting for me like a needy child. My daughter has enough athletic practices and tests to qualify for the Olympics, and here I am, determined to squeeze in my workout/lift session as if I’m training for a superhero role. Those clothes? They’ve seen my bed so many times they practically have a timeshare—back to the hamper 20 times and counting! On these days, I give myself a pep talk that goes something like, “You’re okay and doing amazing,” while I ignore the fact that I’ve turned into a laundry zombie. Motherhood is like trying to organize a tornado; juggling life with kids, squeezing in some God time, and attempting to keep myself sane is no easy feat. But hey, women are resilient and strong! We deserve a trophy for surviving the daily chaos. Yes, it’s life. We have to do the things, but a little positivity makes the ride a whole lot more entertaining!
